Installing the sedex-Client on an Operating System🔗
This documentation describes the sedex-Client in general and how to install, configure and run the sedex-Client on an operating system using the installer provided by sedex.
The sedex-Client is a software that connects business and e-government applications with the secure data exchange platform sedex. Typically, the sedex-Client runs on the same hosts as these applications in Swiss municipalities, cantons and federal offices.
Installation and migration overview🔗
The sedex-Client must be installed on a host that is in a network zone that can access the sedex server via the HTTP/HTTPS protocols (see Firewall for details).
The sedex-Client can be installed either on a dedicated host or on the same host as the business application, as long as the host fulfills the system requirements.
The sedex-Client can be installed in three different ways:
- Graphical installer application
- Interactive command line installer
- Silent command line installation using a prepared configuration file
To migrate an existing sedex-Client installation to a new version or a new location, see Migrating/updating existing sedex-Clients.
Warning: Do not duplicate or move an existing installation by copying it. That can lead to a loss of messages! Always use one of the installer programs to install or migrate the sedex-Client.
Do you want to operate the sedex-Client as a Docker container instead of a classic standalone installation?
The sedex-Client can also be operated as a Docker container using the Docker Image provided by sedex. For this please refer to the separate User Documentation for the sedex-Client Docker Image.
